GamSi - SHI Medicinal Product Quick Information How is spending on pharmaceuticals developing in Germany? The answer to this question is pro- vided by GamSi: the SHI rapid information system for pharmaceuticals. Here, the Associations of Stat- utory Health Insurance Physicians (Kven) and the Health Insurance Associations, as their regional con- tractual partners, learn about the development of expenditures for prescription drugs. This enables them to better manage their budgets and realistically negotiate drug agreements for the future. For this purpose, the GKV-Spitzenverband provides the KVs and the Health Insurance Associations with monthly reports in accordance with Section 84 (5) of the German Social Code Book V (SGB V). These reports contain not only the development of expenditures for drug prescriptions, but also infor- mation for implementing drug agreements. The ITSG conducts the survey prior to the billing audit by the health insurance funds. Using the data supplied, the ITSG calculates the reports in three formats: Federal government: All prescribed drugs in the entire federal territory KV: For each panel doctors' association, physician-specific reports for over 100,000 panel doctors. The Federal and KV reports are available monthly and as PDFs. Special reports are published on the cannabis market each quarter, showing gross sales and pre- scriptions of finished medicines and preparations containing cannabinoids. Accompanying survey cannabis BfArM The Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) is mandated by law to conduct a non- interventional accompanying survey on the use of cannabis medicinal products. For this purpose, phy- sicians provide the BfArM with the data required for the accompanying survey in anonymized form. Detailed data from the interim evaluation were published in the July 2019 issue of the Bun- desgesundheitsblatt. A summary of the publication has been available online since May 29, 2019. The companion survey will run through 2022. The results of the accompanying survey are, among other things, the basis for the Joint Federal Committee (G-BA) to regulate the future assumption of treatment costs in the context of a therapy with cannabis medicines according to the SGB V. Based on the data of this accompanying survey, the G-BA then issues a drug guideline for cannabis therapy for the SHI.
