Preview REPORT Cannabis Extracts in Germany 2021-2025

11 The path of Cannabis extracts in the German market Figure 1: The path from producer to patient with the relevant stakeholders The selling-in process extends from the manufacturer either directly or via wholesalers or special- ised distributors to the retail pharmacy. The selling-out process, on the other hand, takes place directly through the pharmacy to the patient. Different data and decision-makers are relevant for both pro- cesses. For the manufacturers and suppliers of Cannabis products, the selling-in data (NPI) are partic- ularly relevant, because they show which sales they achieve with their products. For the health insur- ance funds and other stakeholders, the selling-out data (NVI and special evaluations INSIGHT Health Cannabis) are essential, because they show what the therapy with Cannabis really costs the payers. The Lauer Taxe does not provide information on sales and turnover, but very detailed structural information such as purchase and sales prices, the classification of the product, the Pharmacy Central Number (PZN) and statements on the discount status as well as many other relevant information. GamSi - PHI-Rapid information on medicines How is expenditure on medicines developing in Germany? The answer to this question is provided by GamSi: the SHI rapid information on medicines. Here, the associations of SHI-accredited physicians (KVen) and the associations of health insurance funds, as their regional contractual partners, find out about the development of expenditure on prescription drugs. This enables them to better manage their budgets and realistically negotiate pharmaceutical agreements for the future. For this purpose, the SHI Head organization provides the KVs and the health insurance associations with monthly reports in accordance with § 84 Para. 5 SGB V. These reports not only contain the devel- opment of expenditure for drug prescriptions, but also information on the implementation of drug agreements. The ITSG conducts the survey prior to the billing review by the health insurance funds. Using the data supplied, the ITSG calculates the reports in three formats: National level: All prescribed medicines in the entire federal territory KVs: For each panel doctors' association, individual reports for over 100,000 panel dotors. (The national and KV reports are published monthly and can be downloaded as PDF files).
