Preview REPORT Cannabis Flowers in Germany 2021 - 2025
5 Executive Summary Cannabis is preparing to find its place in conventional medicine with the cannabinoids, fla- vones, and terpenes it contains. Is this right? Or will we end up with little more than hot va- porized air? Answers to this question can be found in the report "the Market for Cannabis Flowers in Germany 2021 - 2025". EPC HealthCare GmbH in Bremen, in close cooperation with the leading data service pro- vider for the pharmaceutical industry in Germany, INSIGHT Health GmbH & Co. KG from Wal- dems-Esch, has produced the first business report - the Market for Cannabis Flowers in Ger- many 2021 - 2025. First, the basics of cannabis flower growing, and cultivation are outlined, as well as the influences of plant genetics on cannabinoid content. Then, the pharmacology and pharmaco- kinetics of cannabis flowers are briefly explained. The relevant legal bases are outlined. The regulation of cannabis flowers in Germany concludes the introductory chapters. The market review begins with the requirements for the preparation of cannabis formula- tions with flowers as the main ingredient in the pharmacy. The monograph Cannabis Flos and the requirements for identity verification are referenced. The business report then covers a wide range of topics to illuminate the market for canna- bis flowers from the decisive perspectives. Quantitative market data is placed in relation to qualitative data from 360° market research among physicians, pharmacists, patients, and pay- ers in SHI and PHI. The market is presented by segments (cannabis flowers with high THC con- tent, with low THC content and balanced proportion of THC and CBD) from a national and regional perspective. The indications for the use of cannabis flowers are scrutinized according to the underlying evidence and the market potential is mapped based on the prevalence re- quiring treatment. Suppliers of cannabis flowers in Germany will get their products exclusively from abroad until 2020. A large part obtains the cannabis flowers from Canada. Other relevant quantities come from the Netherlands. Imports from Israel, other EU countries or South America do not yet play a relevant role. The cultivation and marketing of cannabis flowers from German in- door cultivation is expected to start in the second quarter of 2021. The three winners of the BfArM's tender, Aphria Rx, Aurora Germany and Demecan will now continuously introduce their products to the German market. These will be very high-quality cannabis flowers, as the cultivation conditions are standardized to the highest degree. To what extent this will push back the import share is an open question. According to our estimates, the share will decrease significantly. Regarding the pricing of the cannabis flowers, a relatively high price for them from the domestic high-tech cultivation is to be expected. Whether the payers will stand idly by and watch this development is not to be expected. But the cannabis flower submarket faces a much greater threat from a completely different direction, as smart vaporizers will increasingly find their way into the German market. These vaporizers will be filled with either cannabis extracts or singular active ingredients (THC, CDB
