5 Applications in the inpatient sector In the inpatient sector, we are also dealing with the 3 separate areas as in the outpatient sector: Marketing Authorization, Market Access and the Reimbursement of Drugs or Medical Devices. The figure below shows the relevant application procedures for the medical device sector. In contrast to the outpatient sector, however, the prohibition proviso applies in the inpatient sector, i.e. as long as a product or a new treatment method has not been prohibited by the G - BA, it can be introduced in the hospital. However, this simplified market access has now been significantly relativized by the proce- dures according to §§ 137 e + h SGB V. As an example of the process steps involved, the following figure shows the chronological sequence of processes and evaluation mechanisms using the example of a NUB application.
